Mike Gannis is a science writer in the NPACI/SDSC External Relations group. He also covers contacts with print and broadcast media, and coordinates NPACI and SDSC exhibits at meetings of professional societies. Part of his area of responsibility is science writing and publicity for NLANR, the National Laboratory for Applied Network Research, and for other network-related projects of SDSC and NPACI. He is the editor of NLANR Packets, the NSF-sponsored Webzine for high-performance networking.

Mike received his Bachelor's degree from UCLA in Astronomy, and his Master's degree from San Diego State University in Astrophysics. He has worked as a computer programmer for scientific applications and as a real-time systems designer, and also has a broad background in the physical and biological sciences.
